Beach House
Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 5:37PM We had a family reunion of sorts at the beach this year. We stayed here and I really liked it. It was great to see the family, of course, but I'll freely admit the best part about the whole thing was the pool. :D The kids were in the pool before breakfast, and I had to drag them out at 11:00 to go to bed. It was awesome! Especially since I could sit on the screened porch and enjoy the view of the beach and the palm trees while they splashed around.
We didn't spend the entire vacation in the pool, of course. We spent one day in Myrtle Beach reveling in glorious consumerism. We went to Ripley's Believe It or Not! Odditorium, Ripley's Aquarium, and the Hard Rock Cafe. Then we got lost inside the Gay Dolphin, which is a massive gift shop dedicated to all things tacky and beachy. The kids had a blast. Sadly, I have no pictures of our adventures that day because someone stole my camera. :( It's my own fault. I set it down at the cash register and left it there, and when I returned five minutes later to retrieve it, it was gone. I'm very upset about it, but now I have a cute little Canon ELPH to carry on with. It isn't as good a camera as my last one, but it does fit in my purse.
We spent a great deal of time playing at the beach as well. I can't begin to tell you how convenient it was to have the beach right there. I've never spent more than two days at a time on the coast, so it was a shock to me how different it was from day to day. One day the beach was strewn with shells. The next day it was covered in jellyfish, and the day after that it was awash in seaweed, coral, and goose barnacles. One day it was completely bare, and the other two days were more of what I am used to, with a little bit of this and a little bit of that with a few sharks and mermaids thrown in for good measure.
We had to go mini-golfing since there was a fabulous place on every corner. First we went to Jurassic Golf, then to Gilligan's Island.
The weather was beautiful, we went out to dinner every night, theGoobs were supremely well behaved and best of all, there were no math books in sight. We will definitely do this again sometime!

Cool shark! Did you open it's mouth and look around? I know you were thinking about it. I would have. So, what all did you knit while you were watching the kids and the man splash around? Pics please!!!
Btw, I know you have more visuals for us. Very lame.
Great photos, love the dead things and the mermaid as well. Pics of your kids is always much appreciated. Well, you did get a new camera out of the deal. even if you didn't want one right now.
I like the shark. :D What fun. I was telling the hubby that we should rent a beach house one summer. If he doesn't, I'll just come visit you when you rent one again. :D
