Pattern: Retro Rib Socks from the Winter 2004 Interweave Knits
Yarn: Regia
Needles: set of five U.S. size 2 dpn's
Modifications: none
I knit these socks for my dad as a birthday gift. I wanted to use black yarn, but the woman who owns the only yarn store within driving distance of my house refuses to stock black yarn. "If you want black socks (sweaters, hats, etc.) go buy them at the mall!" Whatever. And she's also dead certain that you only need two balls of sock yarn to knit a pair of socks no matter who you're knitting them for, so she only stocks two balls of each color. She might be right, but only if you knit ankle socks, and my dad wouldn't be caught dead in ankle socks. So I bought two balls of a color I'll call "swamp" for the feet and legs and one ball of a color I'll call "muck" for the cuffs, heels, and toes. They'll match his huntin' duds.
I wanted to show how the sock looks with a foot in it, but my dad refuses to be my foot model so that is my foot in there. That's why the heel looks a little baggy. This pattern is actually very forgiving - the socks don't feel all that big on me, and they fit my dad perfectly.

You are knitting again! Yeah! I love your pictures.
Only 2 balls of yarn.....bwahahahahha...
Obviously she doesn't knit.
You always have such a fun way of showing off your work ;)
As for the sales lady....if someone else comes in and wants the color that you just bought that person is out of luck because you just bought the only two balls she had in that particular color? :???: Sounds like a lousy business woman. Who cares how many balls of yarn you use to make a sock? It's not of her business anyway she's just selling the stuff.
You're a better woman than me. I don't think I could knit anything from yarn that reminds one of "muck" or "swamp". LOL. Dh will probably never get socks unless he likes candy colored stripes.
